Dr. Stone engages in a testimonial with a prostate cancer survivor
“As men, we need to start having these discussions regarding health—learning to be comfortable having such conversations and bringing our young males along for the conversation,” said Dr. Brian Stone, MD, during the recent Prostate Cancer Awareness Health Forum and Breakfast.
The event was held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (1708 Spencer Ave., Birmingham, AL 35214), where attendees were welcomed with delectable breakfast plates as the meeting was called to order.
The forum marked the beginning of what will soon become a monthly gathering aimed at increasing understanding and spreading vital health information—specifically addressing prostate cancer awareness within the male community.
Hosted by John R. Ray, founder of Prostate Cancer Awareness, Inc., the event featured heartfelt testimonials from several participants who shared their personal battles with, and triumphs over, prostate cancer.
One participant urged men to take responsibility for their health, stating, “Be responsible—take control of your life. Blood pressure problems lead to heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure. We need to make sure water is a daily intake of our bodies more than once during the day. I overcame my prostate scare early through my annual checkup.”
The message was clear: having a trusted primary care physician and staying proactive about health can save lives.
Mr. Johnny Ray emphasized the connection between personal responsibility and long-term wellness, saying,
“Health, wealth, and longevity are up to us personally to do the right things for ourselves—especially in what we eat. One must make personal decisions to do right for themselves. As the great A.G. Gaston said, if you want to be wealthy, it starts with faith in God, proper priorities, and understanding how important physical health is—‘Your Health Is Your Wealth.’ There is no wiser way to put our health into perspective.”
The event was both informative and impactful, leaving attendees better equipped with knowledge and motivation to take control of their health.
