Janice Latrice Jenkins Lawson was born June 19, 1966, in Wayne County, Detroit, Michigan, to Katherine Carr Jenkins and James Clark. She passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She later moved to Greensboro, Alabama, in 2015 to be closer to her children. She resigned in Moundville, Alabama, in 2025. Janice accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Bethel Apostolic Church in Detroit, Michigan. In 2019, she married Keenan Lawson and became a member of Third Street Church of God in Greensboro, Alabama. Janice received her formal education in Detroit Public Schools. She enjoyed singing, dancing, watching African movies, being the life of the party, and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James Clark; her mother, Katherine Carr Jenkins; two brothers, Floyd B. Jenkins and Cecil C. Jenkins; and one sister, Cheryle Landers Cummings.

She leaves to cherish her memory eleven children:

  • Mary Jenkins
  • Katherine Arnett
  • Malaysia Cooper of Detroit, Michigan
She is also survived by one aunt, Bertha L. Bonner of Greensboro, Alabama; four sisters, Mary L. Jenkins, Michelle Jenkins McClain, Rachelle Jenkins Miller, and Janele Edwina Jenkins; and one brother, James Clark Jr. of Detroit, Michigan. Grandchildren include: Madison Leatherwood, Dallas Stallworth, Jordan Stallworth (bonus son), Donte Donaldson, Jayvion Polk, Lynia Washington, JaKayla Wilson, Semaji Williams, Charity Williams, Serenity Dates, Armoni Jones, Devonte Jones, Na’Zyia Polk, Chloe Garvin Wells, Camari Wells, and Cameron Wells (bonus son). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Detroit and Alabama. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church.
