Alexander Harris, 55, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He was born January 15, 1970, to Dorothy Harris of Sawyerville, Alabama. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Baptist Church in Sawyerville. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1989 and attended Stillman College in Tuscaloosa. He later joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
Alexander was known as Ashani Alexander, an artist who enjoyed painting and drawing in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cassandra Gaitor Harris; his sister, Dorothy Mae Harris; his brother, Franklin Harris; his nephew, James Harris; and his best friend, Van Dubose.
He is survived by one daughter, Jasmine Harris of Greensboro, Alabama; his mother, Dorothy Harris of Sawyerville, Alabama; one grandson, his pride and joy, Anthony “Casey” Gooden; his godparents, Patricia and Joe Johnson of Demopolis, Alabama; one sister, Elizabeth Hill of Dallas, Texas; three devoted cousins, Ushika (Charles) Patrick, Perronica Kennedy, and Ebony McCray; a devoted friend, James Ward of Diamond Bar, California; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Sample Cemetery, 405–963 Brasfield Road, Akron, Alabama 35441, with Agnew Funeral Home directing.
