John Cox Webb, IV, of Demopolis, died Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was born August 10, 1942, in Selma to Marie Suttle Webb and John Cox Webb, III.
Mr. Webb graduated from Demopolis High School in 1960 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in 1965. He served in the United States Army, with two years of active duty in Germany, and continued in the U.S. Army Reserve for 21 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He was president of Webb Lumber Company, Inc. and a director of the J.F. Suttle Company, Inc. He served 38 years on the Alabama Power Company Board of Directors—the longest continuous tenure in the company’s history apart from its founder.
He is survived by his children, John Cox Webb, V (Virginia) and Mary Elizabeth Webb Lawrence (Jesse); four grandchildren; and his sisters, Angie Suttle Webb and Louise Webb Marzen.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
