Donald and Mary were married for 55 years and built an amazing life together. Donald was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army at an early age. He was a very proud Vietnam veteran that received the Purple Heart, and bronze stars. He always stood up for what was right.
He was also a very well-known mechanic, and people drove from all over to have him work on their cars. Donald was honest and fair; everyone that knew him trusted and loved him.
He was a very hard worker that would help anyone in need. He loved his tractor and took pride in maintaining his land. As a concerned community member after a tragedy, Donald played a huge part in the development of the Pinetucky Volunteer Fire Department. Then he realized the dire need for a fire station and continued his dedication to helping the community.
He was very proud to serve and help others even after his health declined, and it didn’t slow him down or keep him from carrying out his duties as a Fire Chief, husband, father, and grandfather.
Pallbearers will be Robert Taylor, Danny Crocker, Frankie Terry, Brittany Hollingsworth, Bridgett Carswell, and Brett Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers; Ernest Crocker, Dalton Carswell, and Robert Poe.
With special thanks to Dr. Connie Richardson and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice.
