The City of Marion is advertising several open positions, including municipal court posts that have been the focus of recent reporting.
As of Feb. 3, the city’s official Facebook page carried four new job announcements. One, posted by the Office of the City Clerk, seeks an Accounts Receivable Specialist/HR Assistant to help handle municipal finances and human-resources work at City Hall.
Another posting announces openings for a municipal court magistrate and a city prosecutor, positions that would be responsible for issuing warrants, setting bonds, processing court paperwork, and prosecuting municipal cases.
Separate posts invite applications for full-time police officers with the Marion Police Department and for a Water and Sewer Maintenance Technician/Meter Reader on the city’s public works team. The flyers direct applicants to Marion City Hall or to the police department for details and application materials.
City council members have voted to publish the job notices in the Times-Standard-Herald, discussing the matter most recently at their Feb. 2 meeting. However, as of press time Wednesday morning, the Times-Standard-Herald had not received any advertising orders from the city announcing any open positions.
