Why Anytown Alabama?
Anytown Alabama is a life-changing experience for young people. Each year, teens say Anytown opened their eyes to a larger world. They feel better prepared for college and work — and describe the experience as one they’ll never forget.
Many former campers enjoyed it so much that they returned as counselors. Some even introduced the concept at their colleges.
This year, ACE Alabama, owner and operator of Anytown, is excited to partner with the UAB Institute for Human Rights. Anytown will be hosted on the UAB campus.
What Students Will Experience
Invite your teen to apply for Anytown Alabama NOW.
Participants will:
- Live in UAB dorms
- Meet young people from across Alabama
- Engage in dialogue, workshops, and interactive activities
- Learn leadership and communication skills
- Explore international perspectives on leadership and community building
Through a safe, structured environment, Anytown provides teens with the space, training, and tools to grow personally and professionally into leaders. Students learn how to help create a more accepting, empowered community founded on respect and understanding.
A Legacy of Leadership
Anytown alumni have gone on to become:
- Teachers
- Doctors
- Lawyers
- Business owners
- Chiefs of staff to mayors
- Parents of their own Anytown alumni
- And much more
With 36 years of history, Anytown Alabama was originally created by the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ). When the organization closed, it entrusted its legacy programs — Anytown Alabama, P.E.A.C.E. Birmingham, and Heritage Panels — to ACE Alabama.
ACE Alabama’s mission is to empower students to effect positive change in their communities by fostering character development and community building.
