It was a wonderful celebration of love and joy at Plantation Manor Retirement Community in McCalla last weekend.
The residents and their families and friends had a good time together celebrating Valentine’s Day and simply enjoying the delightful fellowship.
They all turned out for the occasion.
The highlight of the celebration of love was the crowning of the King and Queen of Hearts. The enthusiastic crowd waited with great anticipation for the announcement of the winners.
Rudy Hauenstein and Billie Stewart were crowned King and Queen of Hearts—Upper Level, and King and Queen of Hearts—Lower Level were Elvin Travis and Betty Jean Turner. They were crowned by last year’s winners, Sheila Hartline, Johnny Mixon and Vera Vines.
The event was planned by Activities Director Shon Harris.
Assisting Shon were Maya Lewis, Reese Carmony, Jessica Fleming, Bayonne White, Crystal Chesser, Devin Turner, Dana Elliot and Christine Shelton.
Gavin Ball is the administrator and owner.
Following the crowning, the residents and their guests enjoyed a delicious luncheon prepared by the kitchen staff.
All in all, it was a simply lovely Valentine’s Day weekend.
Tea Tasting
A tea beverage is enjoyed every day by nearly half of the United States population.
It is soothing and refreshing.
Tea is actually good for us.
As part of their educational services, Aldridge Gardens in Hoover is sponsoring a Tea Tasting Workshop on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. and be held in the Educational Building.
You will discover the rich history of tea, different tea types and learn brewing techniques.
