This past weekend, the P.I.N.K. POWER Organization held its annual Galentine Dinner.
The P.I.N.K. (Positive Influential Networking Konnections) Power initiative has been around to provide mentorship services to young ladies throughout the Bessemer area for years, and the recent dinner showcased the progress, lessons learned, and sisterhood that has grown within the local program.
With magnificent food provided for parents and visitors, the event consisted of poetry and song performances along with a Sip & Paint session that allowed the varied age groups of women to congregate and fellowship over artful creativeness and refreshments during the fun process.
P.I.N.K. POWER founder Ms. Jheri Hunter & P.I.N.K. Rep. Ms. Kimberly Grant pose with mentees
P.I.N.K. Power founder, Ms. Jheri Hunter, was hands-on as she greeted and welcomed all.
Ms. Hunter told us:
“The purpose of PINK Power is to foster Positive, Influential Networking Connections that encourage personal growth, life skills, mentorship and friendship. We provide space for honest conversation, career exploration, mutual teaching and learning. A collaborative community where every girl feels valued, supported and excited about her future.”
P.I.N.K. representative, Ms. Kimberly Grant, served as emcee and took time to speak with us, also stating:
“In congruence with the Bessemer Mayor’s Office, this started with a fundraising idea that’s blossomed into much more. Our young ladies learn so much from this program especially through arts and crafts amongst being a place of safety for our young ladies, and our girls need someone to talk to and as mentors and adult women we want to make sure they receive such support within these current and confusing times. We’re here for them no matter what and that’s the point of P.I.N.K. POWER.”
With a Valentine’s theme, the event emanated great vibes and a loving atmosphere.
For those interested in the program as a mentor or mentee, P.I.N.K. meets at the Kenneth E. Gulley Rec Center (Bessemer Rec) every other Saturday from 11AM–1PM.
