Bessemer unveils Data Center Plan for Project Marvel

Last week, an update to the proposed Project Marvel Data Center development framework was announced. The announcement was made by the Mayor and the City Council of Bessemer.

The updated framework serves as a potential data center campus design that incorporates and addresses community concerns regarding land use compatibility while also allowing for improved coordination with the planned Northern Beltline corridor.

Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley said:

“The Preliminary Comprehensive Data Center Campus Plan represents the meaningful dialogue we’ve had with our residents and community stakeholders.”

“By incorporating that feedback, we are working to ensure this project supports the economic goals of Jefferson County and the State of Alabama while remaining deeply respectful of the neighborhoods and families that call Bessemer home.”

The plan provides a visual and technical design for how the project will integrate into the existing landscape and accommodate the future economic engines of Bessemer, Jefferson County and the State of Alabama.

The proposed plan focuses on three core components:

  • Enhanced land-use separation
  • Increased green-space
  • Future infrastructure development synergies

Residential buffers and infrastructure alignment are high-priority in the new design.
