A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Nicholas Nickson, 27, of Sawyerville, whose body was found outside Griffin Mandela Apartments in Greensboro on Monday, May 1. Keoviance Kentrell Scott-Golsby, also from Sawyerville, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 2, by Special Agents of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Nickson’s body was discovered behind one of the apartment buildings at around 12:55 a.m. on Monday. The SBI, which frequently investigates homicides in smaller towns and counties, is leading the case. They began their investigation at the request of the Greensboro Police Department following the shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Jones Street.
Greensboro Police Chief Willie Lewis confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with the SBI actively pursuing several leads. The suspect, Scott-Golsby, has been booked into the Hale County Detention Facility.
ALEA extended its appreciation to the 4th Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Hale County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greensboro Police Department for their assistance in the case.
